Mon Jan 06 07:34:48 UTC 2025: ## Gavaskar Snubbed at Border-Gavaskar Trophy Presentation
**Sydney, Australia** – Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was unable to present the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to the victorious Australian team after their series win over India. Despite being present at the ground, Gavaskar remained at the boundary rope, clapping as Allan Border handed the trophy to Pat Cummins.
Cricket Australia’s plan had been for Border to present the trophy in the event of an Australian victory, with Gavaskar doing the honours if India won. Gavaskar expressed his disappointment, stating to Code Sports, “I certainly would have loved to have been there for the presentation. After all, it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it is about Australia and India.” He emphasized that his nationality shouldn’t have prevented him from participating in the ceremony.
Gavaskar recently spoke about his strong friendship with Border, forged during their time together playing for the Rest of the World team against MCC in 1987. He described the honor and privilege of having the prestigious India-Australia series named after them both.
