Sun Jan 05 23:15:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Issues Health Advisory Amidst Global Respiratory Illness Concerns
**New Delhi, January 6, 2025** – Delhi health authorities have issued an advisory to prepare for potential surges in Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) and other respiratory illnesses. The advisory, issued Sunday following a meeting with district medical officers, emphasizes proactive measures in hospitals across the city.
Hospitals have been instructed to immediately report Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases via the IHIP portal and to strictly adhere to isolation protocols and universal precautions for suspected cases. Maintaining thorough records of SARI and lab-confirmed influenza cases is also mandatory. Hospitals must ensure adequate supplies of paracetamol, antihistamines, bronchodilators, and cough syrups are available.
While the advisory comes in response to reports of increased respiratory illnesses in China, data from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO) up to January 2nd, 2025, shows no significant surge in respiratory illnesses in Delhi. The advisory aims to ensure preparedness and facilitate effective management of any potential increase in cases.
