Mon Jan 06 11:57:10 IST 2025: ## Punjab Roadways Workers Stage Three-Day Strike

**Chandigarh, January 6, 2025** – Approximately 8,000 contractual employees of Punjab Roadways and the Pepsu Road Transportation Corporation (PRTC) launched a three-day strike on Monday, leaving thousands of commuters stranded across Punjab. The strike, organized by the Punjab Roadways, Punbus, PRTC Contract Workers’ Union, is demanding job regularization and salary increases.

Around 2,800 buses remained off the roads due to the strike, causing significant disruption to public transportation. Protests are taking place at all 27 bus depots in the state. Union president Resham Singh Gill stated that despite a recent meeting with Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, no resolution was reached. The striking workers plan to march to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence on Tuesday to further press their demands.
