**Thiruvananthapuram, January 6, 2025** – The prestigious Kerala State School Arts Festival’s light music competition showcased a new generation of talented young singers at the historic Muthayya Bhagavathar Auditorium on Sunday. The event, held at the Swathi Thirunal Music College – alma mater to legendary singers like K.J. Yesudas and K.S. Chithra – saw a high level of competition.

Among the notable performers were Gauri Lakshmi, a Class XII student who triumphed after a court appeal to participate; Minha Fathima, who impressed renowned singer K.S. Chithra on a reality show; and Fiyorna Thomas, a self-taught singer who learned her piece from YouTube. The competition also featured Krishnasree, another reality show participant.

While some felt the overall quality was slightly lower than in previous years, the performances still upheld the festival’s rich legacy and provided a delightful experience for music lovers. The event highlighted the continuing tradition of nurturing young musical talent in Kerala.
