Sat Jan 04 19:25:01 UTC 2025: ## Chennai Court Sentences Three to 12 Years for Ganja Smuggling

**Chennai, January 5, 2025** – A special court in Chennai has handed down 12-year prison sentences to three men convicted of smuggling over 320 kg of ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu. Dubash Shankar (alias Shankar), M. Sreenath, and Sebastin (alias Michael Ratan/Sada) were also fined ₹3 lakh each.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Chennai Zonal Unit apprehended the trio in July 2021 in Tiruvallur district, seizing the ganja and the vehicle used in the operation. The court heard evidence indicating the men trafficked the contraband to areas in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The case was heard in a special court dedicated to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act cases.
