**SAN FRANCISCO/NEW DELHI** – Jagdeep Singh, founder of electric vehicle battery innovator QuantumScape, has become the world’s highest-paid employee, earning a staggering Rs 17,500 crore (approximately $2.1 billion USD) annually, according to a Times of India report. This translates to a daily income of Rs 48 crore – exceeding the annual revenue of many major corporations.

Singh’s compensation package includes a significant stock option component valued at roughly $2.3 billion. The Stanford and Berkeley graduate boasts an impressive career, starting at tech giants HP and Sun Microsystems before launching several startups, including AirSoft in 1992. He founded QuantumScape in 2010.

QuantumScape, backed by investors including Bill Gates and Volkswagen, is pioneering solid-state battery technology for electric vehicles. This innovative technology promises safer, faster-charging batteries with increased energy density, addressing key concerns like range anxiety and long charging times that currently hinder widespread EV adoption.

While Singh stepped down as QuantumScape’s CEO on February 16th, 2024, handing the reins to Siva Sivaram, he remains Chairman of the Board and CEO of an undisclosed startup, according to his LinkedIn profile.
