**VIJAYAWADA, Andhra Pradesh (January 5, 2025)** – Seventeen-year-old U. Premamrutha, a dedicated swimmer from Vijayawada, has secured a place in the upcoming National Games after winning a bronze medal at the 35th South Zone Aquatic Championship. Premamrutha’s rigorous training schedule, which includes early morning practices and online classes, reflects her unwavering commitment to the sport.

Despite the demands of balancing academics and athletics, including upcoming Class XII board exams, Premamrutha remains undeterred. Her passion for swimming began at age nine and has propelled her to numerous successes, including four gold medals at the 77th Senior State Aquatic Championship and multiple gold medals in other state and zonal championships.

Her bronze medal win at the South Zone National Aquatic Championship, achieved with a 50m butterfly time of 31.97 seconds, marks a significant milestone. Overcoming initial fears and the initial resistance of some family members, Premamrutha credits her parents and sister for their unwavering support. She also expresses gratitude to her school, N. St. Mathew’s Public School, for accommodating her training schedule with online classes.

Premamrutha’s coach at the White Shark Academy believes she has the potential to reach the Olympics, a goal she is now actively pursuing. Her determination and passion, noted by her former principal, Rev. Bo. Lawrence D’Souza, serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes. The National Games, organized by the Indian Olympics Association, will take place from January 29th to February 5th in Uttarakhand.
