Sun Jan 05 13:06:45 UTC 2025: ## ₹30 Crore Temple Renovation Project Set to Begin in Tiruchi

**Tiruchi, January 5, 2025** – A major renovation project valued at ₹30 crore is set to begin this year at the Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy temple in Kumaravayalur, near Tiruchi, also known as the Vayalur Murugan temple. The Tamil Nadu State government has approved a master plan developed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, encompassing eight key improvements.

The project includes the construction of a new 500-person capacity ‘Valli’ thirumana mandapam (marriage hall), replacing the existing structure. Two 250-person community halls, a new ‘annadhana koodam’ (alms hall), a shopping complex, quarters for the temple executive officer, and a meeting hall for the trust board are also planned. Further improvements will include a new tonsure block, a parking lot, landscaping, renovation of the temple tank, and construction of a one-lakh-litre overhead water tank.

E-tenders for the project were released late last month, with bids opening next month. Authorities aim to complete the entire project within 18 months of contract award. This renovation comes as the temple prepares for its ‘Kumbabhishekam’ (consecration ceremony) planned for next month, following the completion of other ongoing works, including a new ‘Mun’ mandapam (entrance hall), which is nearing completion. The previous ‘Kumbabhishekam’ was held in March 2006.
