Sun Jan 05 09:21:23 UTC 2025: ## Gavaskar Snubbed at Border-Gavaskar Trophy Presentation

**Sydney, Australia** – Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed disappointment at being excluded from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy presentation ceremony following Australia’s series win over India. Despite being present at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Gavaskar was overlooked, with Allan Border alone presenting the trophy.

Gavaskar, for whom the trophy is jointly named, stated his belief that his presence should not have been contingent on the outcome of the match. “I mean, I am here on the ground. To me it should not matter that Australia won when it comes to the presentation,” he said. He added that he would have been happy to share the presentation with his friend Allan Border.

Cricket Australia (CA) acknowledged the oversight, stating that it “would have been preferable if both Allan Border and Sunil Gavaskar had been asked to go on stage.” CA confirmed that Gavaskar had been informed he would have presented the trophy to India had they won the series.

The omission comes after a highly successful five-match series that drew record crowds and renewed the intense rivalry between Australia and India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, contested since 1996-97.
