Sun Jan 05 12:09:45 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Health Minister Inspects Tiruchi Primary Health Centre, Highlights Expanded Vaccine Access

**Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu, January 5, 2025** – Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ma. Subramanian, conducted a surprise inspection of the primary health centre (PHC) in Samayapuram, Tiruchi, on Sunday. The Minister interacted with doctors, staff, and patients, enquiring about the quality of treatment, available facilities, and the overall functioning of the PHC.

His visit highlighted the recent expansion of healthcare services in the region. Mr. Subramanian observed a boy receiving an anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) after a dog bite. He noted that the patient would receive four doses according to the standard schedule (days 0, 3, 7, and 28).

The Minister emphasized that the availability of ARV and anti-snake venom (ASV) vaccines in PHCs and sub-centres is a relatively recent development, only becoming widespread after June 2023. Previously, patients needing these vaccines had to travel to the District Headquarters Government Hospital. This expansion of services brings crucial preventative care closer to rural communities.
