**KOCHI, January 5, 2025** – A fire broke out at a scrap godown in Vazhakkala, near Kakkanad, Kochi, on Sunday morning, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents. Firefighters from the Thrikkakara Fire and Rescue Service station battled the blaze, which occurred in a narrow residential street. Train services were briefly disrupted. This incident follows a similar fire at an Ernakulam South scrap godown last month, also resulting in evacuations. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
