**New Delhi:** The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the exam pattern and marking scheme for the upcoming Class 10 board examinations, scheduled to begin on February 15, 2025, concurrently with Class 12 exams. Over 4.4 million students are expected to appear for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 examinations this year.
The board has detailed the weightage of topics for each subject, available on the official CBSE website (cbse.gov.in). The exams will assess both theoretical understanding and practical application through a combination of objective and subjective questions across multiple sections, including multiple-choice, short-answer, and long-answer questions.
The marking scheme, meticulously designed by CBSE, allocates weightage to key topics in each subject. For example, in Mathematics, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry are considered high-scoring areas. In Science, students are advised to focus on topics like Light and Electricity (Physics), Carbon and its Compounds (Chemistry), and Life Processes and Control and Coordination (Biology). Social Science requires a strategic approach, as the weightage varies across History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics.
Internal assessment comprises 20 marks of the total 100 marks, including periodic tests and lab/project work, while the main examination contributes the remaining 80 marks. Students are urged to understand the exam pattern and marking scheme to prepare effectively and aim for high scores.
