Sun Jan 05 16:32:00 IST 2025: ## BJP Candidate Sparks Outrage with Sexist Remark Against Priyanka Gandhi

**New Delhi, January 6, 2025** – A sexist remark made by BJP’s Kalkaji assembly candidate Ramesh Bidhuri against Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi has ignited a firestorm of criticism, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the two parties ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In a recently surfaced video, Bidhuri is heard making a controversial statement about Ms. Gandhi while discussing his party’s election promises. The comments have been widely condemned as shameful and indicative of a deeply misogynistic attitude.

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate strongly denounced Bidhuri’s remarks, stating they are “not only shameful but also show his disgusting mentality towards women.” She further criticized the BJP, accusing the party of harboring an anti-women mindset and highlighting Bidhuri’s previous use of abusive language against a fellow MP without facing consequences. Her sentiments were echoed by AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who shared the video on X and questioned the safety of Delhi’s women under a BJP government.

Bidhuri initially defended his comments, attempting to justify them by citing a similar alleged remark made by former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. He later issued an apology on social media, claiming his intention was not to insult anyone and expressing regret for any offense caused.

This is not the first time Bidhuri has faced accusations of inappropriate behavior. He was previously criticized for making Islamophobic slurs against Congress MP Kunwar Danish Ali during a parliamentary session in 2023, with opposition parties alleging a lack of disciplinary action from the BJP.

Congress leader Alka Lamba announced that the party intends to file a formal FIR against Bidhuri. The incident underscores the increasingly heated political climate in Delhi and raises serious questions about the BJP’s stance on gender equality and accountability for its candidates.
