**Raipur, Chhattisgarh:** The brutal murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar has sent shockwaves through Chhattisgarh. His body was recovered on January 3rd from a septic tank on the premises of contractor Suresh Chandrakar, where Chandrakar had gone for a meeting on the night of January 1st. His brother, Yukesh Chandrakar, filed a missing person report the following day.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder: Ritesh Chandrakar, Mahendra, and Dinesh Chandrakar. Police investigations revealed that Ritesh and Mahendra bludgeoned Chandrakar to death with an iron rod, striking him on the head, chest, stomach, and back. Dinesh Chandrakar then helped conceal the evidence. Ritesh, a cousin of the deceased, is the primary suspect. Police state that while Ritesh and Mukesh were initially friends, a conflict arose after Mukesh exposed alleged corruption in a road project overseen by contractor Suresh Chandrakar.
Police tracked Chandrakar’s last known location and searched Suresh Chandrakar’s property in Chhattanpara on January 2nd, but initially found nothing. On January 3rd, suspicion led them to investigate a newly constructed septic tank. With the assistance of a JCB machine, the tank was opened, revealing Chandrakar’s body.
Ritesh Chandrakar was apprehended at Raipur airport, while Mahendra and Dinesh Chandrakar were arrested in Bijapur. Police are currently searching for contractor Suresh Chandrakar. The investigation is ongoing.
