**FLORENCE, SC** – A one-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert after being abducted in Florence, South Carolina, has been found safe. Macie Eaddy, 32, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and other offenses.

According to Florence Police, the incident began Thursday evening when Eaddy, a friend of the child’s mother, Lindsey Britt, left with the child in Britt’s car following a shopping trip to Roses Department Store. Security footage confirmed Eaddy and the child leaving the store and entering the vehicle.

Britt reported the abduction to police after discovering Eaddy had taken her daughter and car. An Amber Alert was issued, and an overnight search ensued.

Eaddy allegedly abandoned the child in a car seat near Cale Yarborough Highway around 8 p.m. Thursday. The child, left in near-freezing temperatures, was discovered unharmed by a homeowner around 7 a.m. Friday and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The Amber Alert was subsequently canceled.

Eaddy was apprehended in Sumter County after being spotted driving Britt’s vehicle. Upon arrest, she was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and had outstanding warrants in Florence County, in addition to driving under suspension. She is currently being held in Sumter County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Florence County.

Eaddy reportedly claimed to have left the child at a Florence apartment complex with a mutual friend of hers and the child’s mother, a claim police are investigating. Friends of the child’s mother expressed shock and urged caution in choosing childcare providers.

The investigation is ongoing.
