Fri Jan 03 12:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Many Retailers Open Despite New Year’s Day Holiday

**NEW YORK, NY (January 1, 2025)** — While banks, post offices, and the stock market are closed today in observance of New Year’s Day, many major retailers are open, though operating hours may vary by location.

Consumers should check with individual stores for specific hours before heading out. Walmart and Target plan to operate on a normal schedule, as will Kroger, Stop & Shop (stores and fuel stations only), and Sheetz (24/7). Publix stores will be open but with varying hours. Outback Steakhouse restaurants are also open, but with potentially adjusted hours. Starbucks hours also vary by location.

However, several major chains will be closed. These include Aldi, Costco, and all Rite Aid pharmacies. Stop & Shop pharmacies will also be closed, as will the U.S. Postal Service, DHL, UPS (with the exception of FedEx Custom Critical). The New York Stock Exchange is also closed for the holiday.

Rite Aid stores themselves will be open. Customers are urged to confirm their local store’s hours in advance. The same advice applies to Publix, Outback Steakhouse, and Starbucks locations.
