**NEW DELHI, January 3, 2025** – Hyundai has launched its highly anticipated Creta Electric (Creta EV) in India, marking its most affordable all-electric offering yet. Priced starting at ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom), the Creta EV will compete in the burgeoning electric compact SUV segment.
The Creta EV retains the design language of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart but incorporates several EV-specific features. These include a redesigned front fascia with a pixelated pattern replacing the traditional grille, a central charging flap, and active air flaps for optimized airflow and enhanced aerodynamics. While maintaining the familiar silhouette and rear design, the EV boasts new 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and a black roof and pillars. The interior features a three-spoke steering wheel inspired by the Ioniq 5, a tweaked center console, and a stalk-type drive mode selector. Standard features include a dual-screen dashboard, panoramic sunroof, and V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging.
Two battery pack options are available, with DC fast charging capabilities (10-80% in 58 minutes) and AC charging (10-100% in 4 hours). However, some industry analysts express concern over the starting price, suggesting it may be too high to compete effectively against rivals such as the Mahindra XUV400, citing a more desirable price point closer to ₹15 lakh. The Creta EV will face stiff competition from other electric SUVs in the market, including the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara.
