**New Delhi, January 3, 2025** – The Supreme Court has sought responses from Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others regarding their acquittal in a 2002 murder case. The CBI has appealed the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s May 28, 2024, decision that acquitted them in the murder of the sect’s former manager, Ranjit Singh. A Supreme Court bench issued notices to the acquitted individuals, demanding their responses to the CBI’s appeal.
