Fri Jan 03 12:59:57 UTC 2025: ## Reliance Celebrates 25 Years of Jamnagar Refinery, a Testament to Dhirubhai Ambani’s Vision
**Jamnagar, Gujarat, December 29, 2024** – Reliance Industries commemorated the 25th anniversary of its Jamnagar Refinery on Sunday, coinciding with the 92nd birthday of its founder, Dhirubhai Ambani. The refinery, operational since December 28, 1999, now boasts a processing capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day (MMBPD), representing 25% of India’s total petroleum refining capacity.
Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation and a director of Reliance Industries, lauded her father-in-law’s vision, describing Jamnagar as Dhirubhai’s “karma bhoomi” (land of duty). She recounted the initial skepticism surrounding the project, citing the barren landscape and lack of infrastructure at the chosen site. Experts doubted an Indian company could build a grassroots refinery of this scale within three years, yet Reliance completed the project in just 33 months.
Ms. Ambani also highlighted the significance of the location for Kokilaben Ambani, Dhirubhai’s wife, referring to it as her “janmabhoomi” (land of birth). She further praised Mukesh Ambani’s dedication to his father’s legacy, calling the refinery his “shraddhabhoomi” (land of devotion and respect).
The Jamnagar Refinery stands as a symbol of Reliance’s ambition and its contribution to India’s economic progress. Its success story serves as a testament to Dhirubhai Ambani’s visionary leadership and the unwavering commitment of the Ambani family.
