Thu Jan 02 19:37:37 UTC 2025: ## Modi to Inaugurate Delhi Infrastructure Projects Ahead of Assembly Polls
**New Delhi, January 3, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several infrastructure projects in Delhi on Friday, a move widely seen as boosting the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming February Assembly elections. The key event will be the handover of 1,675 newly constructed flats to slum dwellers at Ashok Vihar’s Swabhiman Apartments. This follows a similar initiative in Kalkaji Extension in November 2022.
In addition to the housing project, Modi will unveil two urban development projects in central Delhi and a new ₹300 crore Central Board of Secondary Education office in Dwarka. He will also lay the foundation stones for three Delhi University projects costing over ₹600 crore.
The timing of these announcements is significant, coming just days before the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the poll dates for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. The updated electoral roll is set to be published on January 6th, mirroring the timeline of the 2020 election announcement.
The BJP, which last governed Delhi in 1998 and secured only a handful of seats in the 2015 and 2020 elections, is yet to announce its candidates. This contrasts sharply with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has already declared its candidates for all seats, and the Congress, which has announced 47 candidates. Sources suggest Modi may also lead the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ (transformation journey) in Delhi on January 5th.
