Thu Jan 02 19:06:26 UTC 2025: ## Chennai Airport Mix-Up Sends International Passengers to Wrong Terminal
**CHENNAI, January 3, 2025** – A mix-up at Chennai airport on Wednesday night left approximately 90 international passengers stranded at the wrong terminal. An Air India Express flight from Singapore, arriving around 11:45 p.m., mistakenly delivered passengers to the domestic terminal (T4) instead of the international terminal (T2).
The error occurred due to a new ground handling agency, with sources citing a communication breakdown as the cause. The approximately 150 passengers from the flight were transported in five buses; two buses carrying around 90 passengers were diverted to the incorrect terminal. Airport officials quickly rectified the mistake, escorting the passengers to the international terminal with the assistance of Customs officials and CISF clearance. The incident resulted in a 30-minute delay for the affected passengers.
The incident came to light after a passenger voiced concerns about potential security breaches on the social media platform X. Air India Express acknowledged the error, stating the issue was resolved swiftly. The Airports Authority of India is reportedly investigating the matter, noting that the airline and ground handling agency are typically responsible for passenger transportation. The investigation will focus on determining the exact cause of the communication failure and prevent similar incidents in the future.
