Fri Jan 03 13:23:51 UTC 2025: ## Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara to Battle it Out in India’s Growing EV Market

**New Delhi, [Date]** – India’s electric vehicle market is poised for a significant shakeup with the imminent arrival of two major contenders: the Hyundai Creta EV and the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Both vehicles are set to debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 (Auto Expo 2025) starting January 17th.

Hyundai has unveiled the Creta EV, offering two battery options: a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh variant. While the smaller battery option might position the base Creta EV competitively on price, its range will be the shortest compared to rivals. Hyundai claims a range of 390 km for the 42 kWh variant and 473 km for the 51.4 kWh variant.

Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, first showcased in Milan, Italy, will offer a unique selling proposition: both a single-motor 2WD and an electric 4WD variant. Early estimates suggest a range of approximately 550 km.

The Creta EV and e-Vitara will face competition from established players like the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv, and Mahindra BE 6. The Mahindra BE 6 boasts the largest battery capacity, starting at 59 kWh and topping out at a massive 79 kWh, resulting in a claimed range of up to 682 km (ARAI certified). The Tata Curvv, meanwhile, promises ranges exceeding 500 km (45 kWh variant) and up to 585 km (55 kWh variant).

The key differentiator will be battery size and range. While the Creta EV aims for a competitive price point with its smaller battery option, the e-Vitara and other competitors offer significantly longer ranges, potentially attracting buyers prioritizing driving distance on a single charge. The upcoming Auto Expo 2025 will be crucial in determining consumer preference and market share within this burgeoning segment.
