Fri Jan 03 14:39:03 UTC 2025: ## Hyundai Unveils Creta Electric: Targeting India’s Booming EV Market

**NEW DELHI** – Hyundai is making a significant push into India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market with the launch of its Creta Electric SUV. Leveraging the popularity of its best-selling Creta model, Hyundai aims to capture a large share of the mid-size e-SUV segment, currently a dominant force in India’s EV sales.

The Creta Electric boasts a design heavily influenced by the IONIQ5, featuring a distinctive pixelated graphic design on the front and rear bumpers and grille. While incorporating these futuristic elements, the vehicle retains the familiar silhouette of the ICE Creta, including its LED headlights and taillights. Aerodynamic enhancements include Active Air Flaps and 17-inch “Aero” alloy wheels with low rolling-resistance tires.

Two battery options will be available: a standard 42-kWh pack offering a claimed range of 390 km and a long-range 51.4-kWh pack boasting a 473 km range. The long-range version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Fast charging capabilities are highlighted, with the standard model achieving a 10-80% charge in 58 minutes via DC fast charging (specific wattage not yet disclosed).

The Creta Electric incorporates several advanced features borrowed from the IONIQ5, such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, Hyundai’s i-Pedal single-pedal driving system, a shift-by-wire system, and a digital key. The interior is expected to maintain the premium comfort features of the petrol-powered Creta, with potential additional upgrades.

Hyundai’s success will hinge on competitive pricing. The Creta Electric will face stiff competition from established players such as the MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6, as well as the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.
