Thu Jan 02 22:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Hulu’s “Chad Powers” Series: Eli Manning Passes the Torch (and the Pads) to Glen Powell

**New York, NY** – Retired NFL star Eli Manning is handing off his infamous “Chad Powers” persona to actor Glen Powell in a new Hulu series slated for release in 2025. The series, inspired by a segment on Manning’s ESPN show “Eli’s Places,” will see Powell take on the role of Russ Holliday, a fictional former college football player attempting a comeback under the alias “Chad Powers.”

Manning, who famously portrayed a fictional walk-on player named Chad Powers on his show, joked about Powell taking on the mantle, expressing some playful skepticism about Powell’s football skills. While acknowledging Powell’s on-screen experience with football in “Top Gun: Maverick,” Manning lightheartedly questioned his abilities, stating, “I saw you throw the football, and I was like, ‘yeah, I don’t know about this guy.’”

The Hulu series will differ from the original segment, depicting Holliday’s comeback attempt on a struggling Southern football team after his college career was derailed by undisclosed behavioral issues. Powell, who is also involved in the series’ creation and production, will be portraying a significantly older character than the original Chad Powers. The recently released teaser trailer hints at the comedic potential of Powell’s performance, raising anticipation for the show’s debut. Manning, along with his brother Payton, serves as an executive producer on the project.
