**Chennai, January 3, 2025** – Washermenpet police have arrested eight men, including two with prior criminal records, for the brutal assault of two young men on Wednesday morning.
According to police reports, Nawaz (22) and his friend Mani were attacked on Vijayaraghava Street by a group of three individuals. The attackers subsequently summoned reinforcements, and the assault escalated, involving knives and iron rods. Nawaz sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
Following Nawaz’s complaint, police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of D. Manikandan (22) and A. Mohan (28), both known history-sheeters from Old Washermenpet, along with six other accomplices. All eight suspects have been remanded in judicial custody. The investigation continues.
