**New Delhi, January 3, 2025** – A captivating exhibition, “The Princely Cabinet,” is currently underway at the Ojas Art Gallery near Qutub Minar, showcasing a remarkable collection of art and artifacts. The exhibition, which runs until January 12 (excluding Mondays), features pieces spanning centuries and diverse cultures, offering a journey through time and artistic traditions.
Highlights include a rare, early 20th-century German-made pichwai depicting Krishna Leela, exquisite Bagh Phulkari embroidery, and vibrant Warli paintings by Jivya Soma Mashe, capturing scenes of rural life. Four works by the legendary Raja Ravi Varma, invoking a sense of divinity, are also on display.
The exhibition extends beyond paintings, featuring intriguing antique items such as totem poles and tribal chief’s chairs from Nagaland, and historical maps, including a 1799 map and a plan for the Battle of Malplaquet. Photographs add another dimension, with vintage images of the Elephanta Caves and striking shots by Madan Mahatta, including a 1970 photo showcasing waterlogged Connaught Place, highlighting a persistent Delhi problem.
Anubhav Nath, director of Ojas Art, described the exhibition as a unique opportunity to experience a diverse range of artistic and cultural heritage. The gallery is open from 11 am to 7 pm.
