AMARAVATI, Andhra Pradesh – Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy both paid tribute to Savitribai Phule on her 194th birth anniversary, praising her pioneering work in women’s education and social reform.
Naidu, in a tweet, lauded Phule as the first activist to champion women’s education, highlighting her courage in defying societal norms to establish Pune’s first girls’ school in 1848. He emphasized that her inspiration continues to motivate efforts towards women’s empowerment, including the Telugu Desam Party’s initiatives and advocacy for women’s reservation.
Jagan Mohan Reddy also took to Twitter to commemorate Phule’s contributions. He recognized her as a great social reformer who laid the foundation for the girls’ education movement, remembering her struggles and service with respect. Both leaders agreed that education is key to women’s liberation.
