Fri Jan 03 06:44:02 UTC 2025: ## Bihar PSC Exam Scandal Sparks Protests, Rail Blockade
**Patna, January 3, 2025** – Protests over alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam escalated today, with supporters of independent MP Pappu Yadav staging a rail blockade in Patna. The demonstration, at Sachiwalay Halt Railway Station, briefly disrupted train services, causing a 20-minute delay for the Buxar-Fatuha passenger train.
This action follows a hunger strike by Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, now in its second day, demanding the cancellation of the December 13th exam. Kishor, along with numerous supporters, alleges widespread corruption, including claims that exam posts were sold. An FIR has been filed against Kishor for protesting at an unauthorized location.
The protests are fueled by allegations of a question paper leak, leading to a boycott of the exam by hundreds of candidates at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar centre. While the BPSC has dismissed the allegations as a conspiracy, a re-examination has been ordered for over 10,000 candidates who sat at that specific centre. The re-exam is scheduled for January 4th at 22 new locations across Patna.
The CPI(ML) Liberation’s student wing, AISA, has also announced a demonstration outside the Chief Minister’s residence, pressuring Nitish Kumar to address the issue. Over five lakh candidates initially took the exam. The ongoing protests highlight widespread public anger and demand accountability in the Bihar PSC recruitment process.
