Fri Jan 03 10:47:20 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Launches Mobile STEM Lab for Students
**Vijayawada, January 3, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with Infosys, launched the “AP Maker Lab on Wheels” on Friday, a mobile laboratory designed to bring STEM education to students across the state. The initiative aims to foster scientific temper and introduce children to emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The state-of-the-art mobile lab, inaugurated by HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, is equipped with a 3D printer, Industry 4.0 experiment kits, laptops with internet access, and other learning resources. As a pilot project managed by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), the lab will initially visit schools in the Mangalagiri area, providing 90-minute interactive sessions for batches of 20 students.
The mobile lab is staffed by a trainer who guides students through hands-on experiments. Students also have access to free online courses via the Infosys Springboard platform, covering robotics, electronics, microcontrollers, and AI.
The government plans to expand the program statewide, aiming to train 4,800 students every three months. Infosys has invested ₹5 crore in setting up the mobile lab, with an annual maintenance cost of ₹40 lakh. The project’s success will depend on the expansion of the program across the state.
