**New Delhi, January 2, 2025** – The Indian government has committed to fully implementing all recommendations made by a seven-member expert panel investigating irregularities in the 2024 NEET-UG exam. The announcement came Thursday before the Supreme Court, following the panel’s report on improving the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET-UG).
The expert panel, headed by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, was appointed after the Supreme Court refused to annul the 2024 NEET-UG despite allegations of irregularities, including security breaches at an examination center and improper question paper handling. The panel’s expanded remit included reviewing the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) functioning and recommending reforms to ensure exam transparency and prevent future malpractice.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the government will implement all the committee’s suggestions. The Supreme Court adjourned the case for three months, scheduling a follow-up hearing in April. While the full report remains confidential, containing details on issues like question paper printing, the government’s commitment to implementing its recommendations signals a move towards strengthening the integrity of the NEET-UG. The 2024 NEET-UG exam saw over 23 lakh students vying for admission to medical programs.
