**New Delhi, January 1, 2025** – The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has doubled the transaction limit for UPI 123Pay, a service enabling UPI payments without internet access. Effective today, users can now transact up to ₹10,000 per transaction, up from the previous limit of ₹5,000.
This move aims to benefit the approximately 40 million feature phone users in India who rely on UPI 123Pay. The service offers four payment options: IVR numbers, missed calls, OEM-embedded apps, and sound-based technology. Feature phone users typically utilize IVR numbers (080-45163666, 08045163581, and 6366200200) to complete transactions.
Launched in March 2022 to expand UPI usage and digital transactions, particularly in smaller towns and villages, UPI 123Pay’s increased limit is expected to significantly improve accessibility for a large segment of the Indian population. The RBI regularly updates regulations to manage financial transactions and ensure a controlled environment. The expansion of UPI, including its international rollout to countries like Sri Lanka, underscores its growing importance in the digital economy.
