Thu Jan 02 16:17:02 UTC 2025: ## Musk Calls for Release of Far-Right Activist Tommy Robinson, Criticizes Starmer

**London, UK** – Elon Musk has ignited controversy by calling for the release of jailed British far-right activist Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), currently serving an 18-month prison sentence for contempt of court. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk accused the UK justice system of a “travesty” and demanded Robinson’s immediate freedom. He further suggested that those who “covered up” the situation should take Robinson’s place in prison.

Musk’s intervention extended to criticism of UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, referencing historical grooming scandals that occurred during Starmer’s tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Musk cited claims that Starmer failed to adequately address these scandals, a claim that has been widely refuted. While Starmer initiated a prosecution of a grooming gang in Rochdale towards the end of his time as DPP, investigations have not found evidence of any deliberate obstruction of justice on his part. In 2012, Starmer himself acknowledged flaws in the justice system’s approach to sexual exploitation and implemented reforms.

Musk’s tweets have drawn support from far-right figures, including Dutch politician Geert Wilders, and several right-wing online channels. This is not Musk’s first foray into European politics; he recently voiced support for Germany’s far-right AfD party and has openly backed other far-right figures including Nigel Farage and Giorgia Meloni. The German government has accused him of interfering in their upcoming elections.

The latest comments add to Musk’s increasingly controversial involvement in international political affairs, following his past support for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
