**Salem, Tamil Nadu – January 2, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister R. Rajendran inaugurated new anganwadi centers and a panchayat office building in Salem district today. The new facilities, located in Kadayampatti panchayat union, represent a total investment of ₹50.65 lakh.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Rajendran highlighted the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development across various sectors. He cited the recent completion of a mini tidal park in Aanaigoundampatti, built at a cost of ₹29.50 crore, which aims to create software engineering jobs within the Salem region. Furthermore, he announced the construction of a multi-storey manufacturing center for silver anklet manufacturers in Ariyagoundampatti (₹25.29 crore) and the upcoming development of an integrated textile park in Jahir Ammapalayam, projected to generate 10,000 direct and 30,000-40,000 indirect jobs.
The Minister also noted that 2,697 anganwadi centers are currently operational in Salem district, with ongoing modernization efforts. The event was attended by District Collector R. Brindha Devi, local body representatives, and departmental officials. Following the inauguration, Minister Rajendran interacted with children at the anganwadi centers and distributed sweets.
