**Salem, Tamil Nadu, January 2, 2025** – A 27-year-old sculptor, Suriya Prakash, was murdered on Wednesday in Salem, Tamil Nadu, following a family dispute. Prakash, a resident of Panankadu near Mallur, was involved in an ongoing argument between his sister, Samuktha (24), and her husband, Siva (32) of Pasuvanathampatti.

The dispute had led Samuktha to file a complaint with the Kondalampatti All Women’s police station. On December 27th, Prakash accompanied his sister to the station. While returning home on a two-wheeler, they were intercepted by Siva, who engaged in a heated argument with Prakash. During the altercation, Siva allegedly stabbed Prakash with a knife before fleeing the scene.

Prakash was rushed to a private hospital in Salem by local residents but succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The Mallur police have registered a case, arrested Siva, and remanded him in judicial custody.
