**Seoul, South Korea** – The CEO of South Korean airline Jeju Air, Kim E-bae, has been banned from leaving the country following a fatal plane crash that killed 179 people on December 29th, 2024. Police in South Jeolla Province, where the crash occurred near Muan city, confirmed the travel ban on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025. A second individual also faces a travel ban as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Boeing 737-800, carrying 181 passengers from Thailand, issued a mayday call before crash-landing and bursting into flames. Only two flight attendants survived.
Simultaneously, police conducted raids on Jeju Air’s offices and those of Muan International Airport as part of the investigation into the cause of the crash. The investigation is expected to determine the factors contributing to the tragedy.
