Thu Jan 02 16:59:09 UTC 2025: ## Hyundai Unveils Creta Electric SUV, Targeting India’s EV Market

**NEW DELHI** – Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) unveiled its first locally-produced electric SUV, the Creta Electric, on Thursday. The five-seater EV, slated for launch at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 (January 17-22), will compete directly with other mid-size electric SUVs like the Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE 6.

The Creta Electric boasts a distinctive design, borrowing styling cues from its gasoline counterpart but incorporating a pixelated graphic front grille, LED lighting, and 17-inch aero alloy wheels. It features active air flaps for improved aerodynamics and range. Buyers can choose between two battery pack options: a 51.4 kWh (Long Range) offering up to 473 kilometers of range and a 42 kWh battery providing a 390-kilometer range. DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes.

Technological features include a shift-by-wire system, i-Pedal technology for one-pedal driving, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the car to power external devices. The Long Range variant boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds. Four variants – Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence – will be available in eight monotone and two dual-tone color options, including three matte finishes. Hyundai has not yet released pricing details.

The Creta Electric represents Hyundai’s commitment to expanding its EV lineup in the Indian market, positioning itself below the Ioniq 5 in its Indian EV portfolio. The company aims to capture a significant share of the growing Indian electric vehicle market with this competitively priced and feature-rich SUV.
