**KOTTAYAM, January 2, 2025** – The four-day Kottayam district conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] commenced today in Pampady with flag processions converging on the venue. Cooperation Minister V.N. Vasavan inaugurated a meeting honoring senior party leaders.
The conference, which includes 289 delegates, 38 district committee members, and 10 State committee representatives, will see CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan inaugurate the delegates’ meeting tomorrow. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address a public meeting on January 5th to conclude the event.
While the conference is expected to revamp the district committee with new members, current district secretary A.V. Russel is likely to retain his position.
