Thu Jan 02 15:27:09 UTC 2025: ## New Consumer Terminal Launched in Tenkasi to Empower Consumers
**Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, January 2, 2025** – A new consumer terminal was inaugurated today at the Tenkasi Collectorate by Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore. The terminal, part of a statewide initiative by the Tamil Nadu government, aims to educate citizens about their consumer rights and government welfare schemes.
The terminal features a digital display board providing information on consumer protection acts, details of Pongal gift distribution (free dhotis and sarees), and various government schemes related to food supply and consumer protection. According to a Department of Food Supply and Consumer Protection official, the terminal will help ensure consumers are aware of their rights and the protections afforded to them under the law.
The initiative is designed to promote fair market practices, transparency, and adherence to regulations by businesses. By disseminating information about government schemes and addressing issues such as hoarding, price hikes, and adulteration, the terminal aims to improve the availability and quality of essential commodities. The project is expected to foster a more informed and responsible consumer community.
District Revenue Officer Jeyachandran, District Food Supply and Consumer Protection Officer A. Anitha, and other officials were present at the inauguration. Similar terminals are being rolled out across all district collectorates in the state.
