**New Delhi, January 2, 2025** – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has accused the Delhi government of obstructing the delivery of crucial central agricultural schemes to farmers in the capital. In a strongly worded letter to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Chouhan criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for failing to implement key initiatives, including the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and the Beej Gram programme.
Chouhan highlighted that the lack of implementation deprives Delhi farmers of vital benefits such as improved seed distribution, infrastructure development, access to agricultural mechanization, and crop insurance. He further pointed out that the categorization of agricultural equipment as commercial vehicles leads to inflated costs for farmers, while they are also facing high electricity charges despite the AAP government’s promises of free power. Farmers along the Yamuna river, Chouhan added, are further burdened by the disconnection of irrigation equipment power supplies.
The Union Minister expressed deep concern over the situation, stating that the Delhi government’s actions represent a betrayal of farmers’ welfare and urged immediate implementation of the central schemes, emphasizing that political differences should not impede farmer support. The Delhi government is yet to respond to these accusations.
