Wed Jan 01 17:09:01 UTC 2025: ## IAS Officer Bhuvnesh Kumar Appointed New UIDAI CEO
**NEW DELHI, January 2, 2025** – Bhuvnesh Kumar, a 1995 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the new CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the body that administers Aadhaar. He succeeds Amit Agrawal, who has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
Kumar, currently Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), will retain that position concurrently. His extensive experience includes serving as Secretary in charge of various departments in Uttar Pradesh and as a Joint Secretary at MEITY.
The UIDAI announced that Aadhaar has reached significant milestones, with over 1.41 billion enrolments and over 1.07 billion updates processed. Over 127 billion authentications have been conducted, and Aadhaar has been used for e-KYC over 21.8 billion times. Recent data suggests Aadhaar enrolments are nearing saturation, with new enrolments falling below one million for the first time in 2024.
