KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Volunteers remain the top team in the nation, holding onto the No. 1 spot in the latest AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll. The Volunteers received 41 first-place votes, despite a relatively quiet holiday week where they only played one game, a victory over Middle Tennessee. Auburn remains at No. 2, gaining eight first-place votes despite not playing.

The top 13 teams remained unchanged overall, with the SEC continuing its dominance, boasting four of the top six teams. Florida (No. 6), Tennessee, and Alabama round out the SEC’s strong showing. The SEC leads all conferences with ten teams ranked in the Top 25.

Other notable movements in the poll include UCLA jumping seven spots to No. 15 after defeating Gonzaga (who dropped five spots to No. 19) in a highly anticipated matchup. Memphis entered the rankings at No. 25 after defeating Mississippi, who fell eight spots to No. 24. San Diego State dropped out of the rankings entirely following a loss to Utah State. Zakai Zeigler, a Tennessee player, commented on the team’s mentality and expressed gratitude towards the team’s fanbase.
