Mon Dec 30 19:53:08 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Compromising National Security Over Rohingya Refugee Settlement

**New Delhi, December 31, 2024** – A major political clash erupted today between the BJP and AAP in Delhi, centering on allegations of AAP facilitating the settlement of Rohingya refugees in the capital. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri accused AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “playing with national security” by allegedly aiding the refugees’ settlement and providing them with financial assistance and voter ID cards.

Mr. Puri, the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, cited evidence suggesting AAP legislators were directly involved in supporting the Rohingya community. He countered previous AAP claims of BJP conspiracy by pointing to his own 2022 social media post announcing the relocation of Rohingya refugees, a statement he claims was clarified the same day. He vehemently denied the central government provided housing to any Rohingya refugees.

Mr. Kejriwal responded by demanding Mr. Puri’s arrest, accusing him of being responsible for the refugees’ settlement in Delhi and challenging him to reveal the locations where he facilitated their relocation. He accused the BJP of political theatrics aimed at influencing the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

The AAP, in turn, has accused the BJP of plotting to remove supporters’ names from voter lists. This exchange follows Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah questioning how a large number of Rohingya refugees managed to settle in Delhi without detection.

The BJP maintains that the AAP is aiding illegal immigration to garner votes, while AAP accuses the BJP of using the Rohingya issue for political gain ahead of the February elections. The controversy highlights the escalating tensions between the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP in Delhi.
