Mon Dec 30 20:12:08 UTC 2024: ## Punjab Farmers’ Bandh to Cripple Transportation on Monday
**Chandigarh, [Date]** – A complete shutdown of transportation is expected across Punjab on Monday, October 23rd, in support of a farmers’ bandh. The protest is set to severely disrupt rail and road networks, impacting thousands of commuters.
Private bus services will be suspended statewide from 7 am to 4 pm, while PRTC bus services will halt operations from 10 am to 2 pm. This widespread closure will affect inter-state travel as well.
Railway services will face significant disruption, with over 221 trains affected, including several prestigious Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express services. Three Shatabdi Express trains to Kalka, Chandigarh, and Amritsar are among those cancelled. Two Vande Bharat Express trains between New Delhi and Vaishno Devi and one between New Delhi and Amb Andaura have been entirely cancelled, while another Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat will terminate or originate at Delhi Cantt. The railways reported further cancellations, partial cancellations, and rescheduling of numerous other trains across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. Normal service is expected to resume after 4 pm.
The significant disruption is a result of the ‘Rail Roko’ agitation organized by various farmer organizations. The impact on commuters is expected to be substantial.
