Mon Dec 30 16:28:31 UTC 2024: ## Delhi LG’s Season’s Greetings Turn into Political Broadside Against Kejriwal

**New Delhi:** Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s season’s greetings to Chief Minister Atishi have sparked a fresh round of political sparring, with the LG using the occasion to criticize Atishi’s predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal.

In his letter, Saxena expressed “hurt” over Kejriwal’s description of Atishi as a “temporary” Chief Minister, calling it a “reprehensible neglect” of democratic principles and an insult to both the President of India who appointed her and the LG himself, who administered her oath. While praising Atishi’s efficiency and initiative – contrasting her favorably with Kejriwal’s alleged inaction – Saxena also listed several areas where he claimed the government had failed, placing the blame ultimately on Atishi.

Atishi responded sharply, accusing the LG of playing “dirty politics” and focusing on obstructing initiatives like the Mahila Samman Yojana. She defended Kejriwal’s record and asserted her commitment to his policies. The exchange comes ahead of Delhi’s Assembly elections in February.

The LG’s letter represents a continuation of a tense relationship between the two offices. Previously, Saxena had publicly praised Atishi, even stating she was “a thousand times better” than Kejriwal. However, he also overruled Kejriwal’s choice for Independence Day flag hoisting in August, appointing then-Home Minister Kailash Gehlot instead. This latest exchange underscores the ongoing political conflict in Delhi.
