**Buenos Aires, Argentina** – Five individuals have been indicted in connection with the death of British singer Liam Payne, who died after a fall from a Buenos Aires hotel balcony in October, Argentinian prosecutors announced Monday.
Three individuals – identified only by their initials – face charges of manslaughter. These include a representative who was traveling with Payne, a female hotel manager at the Casa Sur Hotel, and the hotel’s reception desk head. Two others are charged with supplying Payne with illegal drugs: a hotel employee and a waiter Payne encountered elsewhere in the city. While the two charged with drug supply are in custody, the manslaughter suspects remain free.
Payne, 31, a former member of the globally renowned boy band One Direction, died on October 16th after falling from his third-floor hotel room balcony. His death triggered widespread mourning worldwide.
Argentine prosecutors previously revealed that Payne had consumed cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant prior to the incident. Payne had openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse and the pressures of fame in the past. The investigation continues.
