Tue Dec 31 08:15:51 UTC 2024: ## ISRO’s 100th Launch from Sriharikota Imminent

**Sriharikota, India** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is on the verge of a major milestone. ISRO Chairman S Somanath announced that the upcoming Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV) mission, scheduled for January, will mark the 100th launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This follows the successful PSLV-C60 mission on Monday, which completed the 99th launch and deployed two spacecraft for the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX).

Somanath highlighted the significance of the upcoming centenary launch and outlined future plans, including the launch of the NVS-02 navigation satellite aboard a GSLV rocket in January 2025. This follows the successful May 2023 launch of NVS-01, the first of a new generation of satellites for the NavIC navigation system.

The chairman also expressed optimism about future SpaDeX missions, anticipating more complex docking experiments in the coming years. He explained that the slight delay in the PSLV-C60 launch from its original schedule was due to a “conjunction study” to ensure the safe passage of the launched satellite, avoiding close proximity to other orbiting satellites. This precautionary measure highlights ISRO’s commitment to safety and precision in its space operations.
