Mon Dec 30 15:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Kerala NCC Camp: Army Officer Assaulted After Food Poisoning Incident

**Thrissur, Kerala:** A shocking incident unfolded at a National Cadet Corps (NCC) training camp in Kerala following a suspected case of mass food poisoning. A video has emerged showing a local Councillor and a Left party leader assaulting a senior Army officer, Lt Colonel Karnail Singh, on the camp premises.

Over 80 cadets from the 21 Kerala Battalion NCC fell ill on December 23rd after consuming dinner at the KMM College in Thrikkakara. Following the cadets’ complaints of food poisoning, the two men and others stormed the camp and physically attacked Lt Col Singh. The video shows the officer being shoved, choked, and threatened with a knife. A police officer present at the scene intervened to de-escalate the situation. Lt Col Singh sustained injuries to his neck and back.

A total of 513 cadets participated in the camp. While 80 were initially hospitalized, 47 more later reported similar symptoms and received outpatient treatment. The Additional Director General of NCC has ordered a Brigadier-led inquiry into the suspected food poisoning.

Police have filed charges of trespassing, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt against the accused. A senior police officer is investigating the incident, which has sparked widespread outrage.
