**Halifax, Nova Scotia –** An Air Canada flight experienced a dramatic landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport late Saturday night, resulting in a runway excursion and a partial aircraft fire. Flight 2259, operated by PAL Airlines, skidded off the runway after a reportedly improper tire deployment upon landing.
According to passenger accounts relayed to CBC News, the plane landed at a significant angle, causing the wing and engine to scrape against the pavement. Subsequently, a fire ignited on the left side of the aircraft, with smoke entering the cabin. Passengers reported feeling significant shaking during the incident.
All passengers were successfully evacuated and received medical checks at a hangar. The extent of any injuries is currently unknown. The airport was temporarily closed following the incident but one runway has since reopened. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
