**Kochi:** The CEO of Mridangam Vision, the organizer of an event at the Kalur International Stadium where MLA Uma Thomas suffered injuries after falling from a gallery, has been taken into custody. Shameer Abdul Rehim was arrested from his Kochi flat.

Police had earlier registered a case against the organizers following the incident, which involved Minister Saji Cheriyan, senior police officials, and the GCDA chairman. The case cites a lack of adequate safety measures at the event. An FIR was also filed against the stage construction contractors. The arrest of the Mridangam Vision CEO followed these filings.

The investigation revealed that the gallery was 12 feet high, and the 55-foot-long stage had seating arranged in an 8-foot wide area. Weak queue barriers were used as handrails. ADGP Manoj Abraham had instructed the Kochi Police Commissioner to register a case, highlighting the organizers’ failure to ensure safety. Palarivattom police registered the case. City Police Commissioner P. Put Vimaladitya stated that the organizers failed to adhere to safety regulations. The fire service also reported serious lapses on the part of the organizers who constructed the stage.

Oscar Events and Mridangam Vision, the event organizers, have approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
