Mon Dec 30 09:45:11 UTC 2024: ## Young Jaiswal Equalling Tendulkar’s Record in Melbourne Test

**Melbourne, Australia (December 30, 2024):** Yashasvi Jaiswal, the rising star of Indian cricket, continued his impressive form in the Melbourne Test, equalling a remarkable feat achieved by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Jaiswal’s stellar performance in the match saw him score a half-century in the final innings, reaching 50 runs off 127 balls. This was his third 50+ score in the series and his 12th such score in Test matches in 2024.

This achievement puts Jaiswal in elite company, tying him with Tendulkar for the most 50+ scores in a calendar year (12, achieved by Tendulkar in 2010). Only Virender Sehwag (13 in 2010) has achieved a higher number of 50+ scores in a single Test year among Indian batsmen.

Jaiswal’s contributions extended beyond this milestone. He also scored 82 runs in the first innings. His performance in Melbourne makes him only the fourth Indian opener to score 50+ runs in both innings of a Test match in Australia, following in the footsteps of S. Abid Ali, Virender Sehwag, and Murali Vijay. Significantly, he is the only Indian opener to achieve this feat in the last decade.

Furthermore, Jaiswal has amassed over 1400 runs in Test matches this year, placing him amongst the top performers in Indian cricket history. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have previously reached this milestone in a single calendar year. The young opener’s consistent high scores solidify his reputation as a future cornerstone of the Indian Test team.
